Senior Associate/Manager – Media Relations & Policy Communications

Brussels, Belgium

Senior Associate / Manager – Media Relations & Policy Communications

Location: Brussels
Team: Corporate Communications

About us

Weber Shandwick Brussels is seeking a Senior Associate or Manager to join our Corporate Communications team, with a focus on media relations and policy communications. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of corporate reputation, public affairs, and strategic communications within a dynamic, international environment.

We’re a passionate and diverse team that protects and promotes global brands and institutions – and has fun while doing it. If you thrive on storytelling, media strategy, and navigating the fast-paced world of policy and reputation, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for developing and executing integrated communications strategies that drive earned media coverage, shape policy narratives, and build executive visibility. You’ll work across sectors including technology, sustainability, healthcare, energy, and more, supporting clients with both corporate and policy-focused communications.

This role is ideal for someone with 3–5 years of experience in communications, public affairs, or media relations, who is ready to take the next step in their career and contribute to high-impact campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support media relations and policy communications programs for major local and global clients.
  • Develop and pitch compelling story angles to Brussels and EU policy media, influencers, and content creators.
  • Monitor news cycles, policy developments, and cultural trends to identify opportunities and risks for clients.
  • Draft and edit media materials, messaging frameworks, and integrated communications plans.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, analysts, and third-party stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (strategy, creative, digital, analytics) to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Support issues and crisis communications, including strategic messaging and media monitoring.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development and agency growth.
  • Participate in new business efforts and proposal development.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of experience in communications, public affairs, or media relations, ideally in an agency or in-house setting.
  • Proven success in media relations, story development, and pitching, especially within the Brussels/EU media landscape.
  • Strong understanding of policy communications, particularly in sectors like technology, telecoms, sustainability, or healthcare.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Digitally savvy, with a strategic approach to using traditional, digital, and social media.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English; other languages are a plus.
